Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR), CAS number 9003-55-8, also known as polystyrene butadiene copolymer or SBR rubber, is a general-purpose synthetic rubber made from styrene and butadiene through emulsion or solution polymerization. It is a white or pale yellow elastomer with excellent physical and mechanical properties and processability, making it one of the most widely used synthetic rubbers in the rubber industry. Its wear resistance exceeds that of natural rubber, making it particularly suitable for manufacturing products requiring high wear resistance. Compared to natural rubber, it also exhibits superior resistance to heat, oxygen, and ozone aging, resulting in a longer service life. SBR is primarily used in the automotive tire industry, industrial rubber products, household rubber products, adhesives, asphalt modifiers, and other industries.
